Glasgow Announces Exchange Club Donates $1,000 to Children’s Advocacy Center
January 24, 2023 JOLIET— Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow is pleased to announce that the Joliet Exchange Club has donated $1,000 to the Will County Children’s Advocacy Center. Joliet Exchange Club President Dan Kallan presented the check to Glasgow following a tour of the CAC.
“The CAC is continually enhancing and expanding the services we provide children, ages 3-17, who have endured sexual abuse, severe physical abuse, sexual exploitation, child pornography, neglect, and exposure to violence,” Glasgow said. “Our specially trained trauma professionals provide critical forensic interview, advocacy, and therapy services for these children that starts the day they walk through our doors and continues for as long as needed. Generous contributions like this donation from the Joliet Exchange Club directly benefit the children we serve by helping to fund these and other programs that provide tangible services.”
Annually, the Will County CAC provides hope, healing, and justice for more than 700 children who have endured physical and sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, child pornography, neglect, and exposure to violence.
“The Joliet Exchange Club works to eradicate child abuse through its support of local programs and our contribution to the CAC aligns perfectly with this mission,” Kallan said. “Our motto is ‘Unity for Service’ and we know that, working together, we can make a positive difference in the lives of these children who have endured trauma.”
Glasgow created the Will County CAC in 1995 as a child-focused, coordinated response center to provide hope, healing and justice for children who have endured severe physical abuse, sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, neglect, and exposure to violence. When a child makes an outcry of sexual abuse, the child is brought to the CAC where highly trained and compassionate forensic interviewers obtain accurate and complete statements in a neutral, non-suggestive, and child-friendly environment. The CAC also provides trauma-focused individual and group counseling, medical exams, legal advocacy, and community resource referrals to facilitate the healing process.
