JOLIET – Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow has donated $10,000 to the Greater Joliet Area YMCA to support the nonprofit organization’s youth development programs. Glasgow recently presented the check to YMCA President and CEO Katy Leclair at its Galowich facility. Joliet Mayor Terry D’Arcy, who has partnered with Glasgow in donating vehicles to local organizations including the Spanish Community Center, the Boys & Girls Club, and the Veterans Assistance Commission, also attended the check presentation.
“The YMCA is a great resource for our children, fostering youth development and keeping our kids off the streets.” Glasgow said. “The Y is devoted to strengthening the foundations of community, and this incredible not-for-profit organization does this every day through its youth development programs which help children build a sense of community and social responsibility.”
The funds will be used to support the YMCA’s youth development programs including summer day camps, and before and after school childcare throughout Will County. Not only is the YMCA helping participants achieve their personal and education goals; it also is keeping youngsters away from drugs.
“Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow is a wonderful advocate for kids in our community,” said Greater Joliet Area YMCA President and CEO Katy Leclair. “These precious funds will benefit hundreds of children in the YMCA’s summer day camp and before and after school programs in Will County. We are so grateful for State Attorney Glasgow’s generous support of the Y’s mission and our youth development work in Will County.”
Glasgow’s contribution to the nonprofit was funded through drug forfeiture money seized from criminals; no taxpayer dollars were used.
