Walk-in Complaints
If you’ve called the police and made a complaint, and your local police department feels no criminal charges apply, you may still have a course of action.
In the event you disagree with the decision of your local law enforcement agency, it may be possible to discuss your case one-on-one with an Assistant State’s Attorney. Walk-in complaints are considered at the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office, 57 N. Ottawa Street (in downtown Joliet) on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 1:30-4:00 p.m. The reception area is on the first floor after the security checkpoint. Please note that, because there are courtrooms in the building, security officers will not allow cellular phones with cameras in the building.
For more information, call (815) 727-8453.
Our Ethical Obligation
The Office of the State’s Attorney ethically cannot act as your attorney. If our office is unable to file a charge, we will provide you with a complete explanation as well as other resources and referrals as appropriate.
Domestic Violence complaints are taken Monday through Friday during working hours from 8:30 – 4:30 p.m.
